Their dance video was a project produced by Little Box Of Hope, a creative collective
that creates interpretive hip-hop dance, art, music, and theater pieces.
It only made sense to make a dance video that tied together the magic of LA street dance with LA art, at the late Chris Burden’s sculpture Urban Lights.
WHERE HAVE YOU SEEN STREET DANCERS IN TODAY’S ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY?
Streetdance has gone from your neighborhood corner to broadway shows and Cirque masterpieces like Phantom Of The Opera. Entertainers of today like Beyoncé, Jlo, Madonna and Justin Bieber have continuously incorporated this art into their palette making it a staple in pop culture. Globally shared, street dance is one of the most common languages and knowledges understood across separate cultures around the world.
HOW ARE DANCERS ARTISTS?
Artists like Pandora Marie and Boogie Frantick have been featured in everything from commercials by Microsoft to full on hollywood films where they were not only featured, but were given the role of main and supporting characters. This phenomenon seeped its way into homes in the 1980’s with artists like Michael Jackson, then burrowed its way to the big screen with movies like You Got Served, continued with the Step Up series, and spun off into many dramas like the LXD. The modern day dancer creates the mood in almost every modern day performance in our increasingly visual world.
MORE THAN JUST DANCE
Street artists often represent the light of their community. Under the Artistic Direction of Darrick Quali-D Fields and Pandora Marie, Little Box Of Hope brings the soul of the streets to the forefront. These stories are brought to life through the pieces they create using original music and dance.
